Moving into Tanzania we are first rewarded with a few days on the beach.  Matt and Shannon head back to Canada for a wedding while Mike and Cathy explore the restaurants of Zanzibar.  Reunited (less one) the adventurers head to the origins of man, now controlled by beasts - Olduvai Gorge, Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti.

After climbing Kilimanjaro last year (August 2004), Matt and Shannon visited Zanzibar before heading home.  Mike and Cathy had to get back to Johannesburg after the climb though and ended up missing the Zanzibar part of the trip. So, with Matt and Shannon on their way back to Canada for 10 days, Mike and Cathy decided to head over to Zanzibar to see the island.

Click here to read about our ongoing adventures in to Uganda.  Where the people are friendly but the rapids and mongoose are not.  In Uganda, we visit the source of the Nile and leave some reminders of our visit on the jagged rocks therein.  We also visit Kibale forest in search of chimpanzees and Queen Elizabeth Park where Mike goes toe-to-mouth with a fiesty banded mongoose.

Only 10 years after the Rwandan genocide, we visited a country working hard to overcome its imfamous reputation.  The Rwanda we visited was friendly, peaceful and full of potential (and gorillas).  Click here to read about our treks to sombre genocide memorials and (significantly less sombre) gorilla country.
